All the snuggles - Fall Family Photos in Ludlow, MA

Oliver and I used to work together as photographers at WEBS in Northampton, Massachusetts. In May, I left my position there to pursue freelance work and grow my photography hustle.

Oliver is an incredible photographer, husband to his super smart wife Mia, and dad to his darling Josephine. It was great working with him at WEBS, sharing stories about our growing families and learning from him every day. I really miss seeing him!

We fixed that with some pizza and a walk through the Ludlow Country Club with our cameras. Oliver, Mia and Josie, thank you for letting me capture all of your sweet love that afternoon! Let’s do it again soon!

Sam and Corey's Fall Engagement Session

Samantha and Corey will be getting married next year at the Mill on the River and I am so excited to be there as their photographer!

Samantha is a teacher and Corey is an engineer and they are just the sweetest couple ever.

I took their engagement photos at the Quabbin Reservoir on the most perfect fall day we’ve had this season. The session also happened to be one year and a day from their wedding date so the countdown is on!

Congrats on your engagement Sam and Corey, and thank you for inviting me along to capture this special journey!

The Silva Family - Roger Williams Park Family Session

These cool kids are my cousins and in exchange for their hand-me-downs I like to take their family photos every year. This year we decided to meet up at Roger WIlliams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island and wander around the park taking photos.

This was such a fun location! We spent most of our time in the Japanese garden climbing trees and racing across bridges. When we were done we took a spin on the carousel.

My kiddos are still asking to go back and see the animals at the zoo so I think this will be a yearly tradition!

Why I love at home family photo sessions

I love how relaxed at home family sessions can be. Jackie and Andrew had the perfect setting to have me over for some photos of their party of five last month!

When you have a big crew like this, especially one that includes babies, I am always happy to work right at your home! These kids were so relaxed and excited to show me all of their favorite parts of their space. They were free to be themselves and I was able to catch all of the magic!

Here are a few of my favorites.

Cady - Amherst High School Senior Photos

Cady chose to have her Senior photos taken at her family’s centuries old farm in Hadley, Massachusetts. I have hiked the mountains in this area many times, and I was always curious about this property on my drives through the area.

Of course, the space was as magical as I thought it would be. A barn with twinkly lights and a SWING? An old truck?! Mountain views? Cornfields?

Add in this beautiful girl and this turned into one of those sessions that I never wanted to end!

Cady was so much fun to work with. I am so grateful to have had the chance to spend the afternoon with her at such a special place!

Best of luck to you in your final year of high school!

Jess and Emil - Quabbin Reservoir Engagement Session

Emil proposed to his fiance Jess on a hot air balloon ride through Vermont and New Hampshire last year. Next year they’ll be married at the Salem Cross Inn! These two were a dream to photograph — adventurous, fun, and full of love for each other.

We held the session at the Quabbin Reservoir in Belchertown, Massachusetts.

Silly, Messy Love - Northfield, MA Family Session

If you have kids of your own, you know that having a family is hard work. Of course family love is unconditional and has no end, but let’s be real, sometimes this kind of love can feel messy and exhausting. You catch yourself doing odd things to keep your children from losing focus or melting down, and the best you can do is embrace it.

My background is in photojournalism, so when I get to work with a family that just wants to be a family while I hang out with my camera, I get pretty excited. The Crowley family wanted just that for their family session at their home in Northfield, Massachusetts, and I was more than happy to capture all of the silly, messy love they have for each other.

It was a HOT summer day and after getting a few photos in the sunny field across the street from their home, they just had to jump in the pool.

And no, they did not change out of their nice family picture clothes!

To the Crowley family — thank you for sharing all of these wild family moments with me. It was such a treat to capture a slice of your adventure.

Aurelia - Belchertown High School Senior Photos

When Aurelia asked if we could take her senior photos in downtown Northampton I got super excited. I worked for 7 years in Northampton as a commercial photographer and would often wander into the city to find interesting places to capture. I have an impressive map of Northampton's most photogenic alleys, tagged up walls, and city views stashed in my melon.

Aurelia is an artist and musician and was just so fun to work with. She wanted colorful backdrops and a city vibe. I think we got it!

Best of luck to you Aurelia!

Style Guide for Spring Minis

When people ask me what to wear to a photo session I always say, "be comfortable and be yourself!" That advice still stands, but if you're looking for a few ideas on how to coordinate your family's look in this particular setting, I've included a couple ideas here for you.

The mini sessions will be held at a private residence that features a BIG red barn! The barn actually used to be used for dairy cows. It's huge! Now it's owned by an artist and family friend of mine who is generously offering his space for the session.

There will be a few handmade props made locally by a friend of mine who has done a ton of styling and photography work with me in the past. She's busy making paper flower garlands and knitted flags to hang from the barn and peach trees. Be sure to check out her instagram to see her work, she's an extraordinary crafter!

So if you're wanting to coordinate, choose a color palette and dress your crew around it. This will allow family members to express who they are within a color theme that works together.

Here are a few outfit boards that I put together for inspiration!

These are meant to inspire you if you're looking to coordinate but it is most definitely not required, so don't stress about it! I'm going to capture your happy family, so wear whatever you'd like!

If you haven't signed up yet but would like to come out for some photos, there are only a few spots left. Contact me here to check for availability.

Happy Spring!

Surprise Proposal Photography in Easthampton, Massachusetts

I feel so lucky to have photographed Joshua and Sarah's proposal as a surprise in downtown Easthampton along Nashawannuck pond. The pond sits at the base of Mt. Tom and behind a string of shops and restaurants in the old mill district.

The best part about this proposal was that neither Joshua nor Sarah knew that I was hired to be there! It took some coordinating but I managed to capture the moment.

Sarah has a love for corgis in bow ties, so her boyfriend Joshua decided to find a "stranger" (friend of his sister) to casually be walking her corgi in a purple bow tie by the pond where they were walking.

When Sarah saw the corgi up ahead, she immediately started running towards it to see if she could say hello. The corgi, named Nudnick, had a note tied to his collar that said, "Will you marry me?"

After she saw the note, Joshua got on his knee and asked her to marry her and she said yes!
