Elena And George’s Intimate Wedding at Mill 1 at Open Square

Bride and Groom embrace at their wedding at Mill 1 at Open Square in Holyoke, Massachusetts

Elena and and George met at a YMCA in Cambridge, Massachusetts a few years ago while they were both students in the city. They had noticed each other for months, but it wasn’t until both were about to move that Elena schemed a plan to talk to George. She decided to start wearing screen-printed t-shirts to the gym in hopes that he would comment on them — and guess what?

He did!

Elena, a Texas native, threw on her ‘Keep Austin Weird’ shirt and went to the gym. George, another southwest transplant in Boston, approached her asking if she was from Austin. Their first date followed soon after where they found themselves bar hopping in the Back Bay and finally ending up at a college party thrown by one of Elena’s friends. Their first date ended with George walking Elena home.

In 2019 they were engaged in Innsbruck Austria. They began planning their dream wedding in Italy in 2020 and we all know what happened to those plans. Three years later, Elena cracked her wedding time capsule that held the dress she purchased 3 years ago for an official wedding at Mill 1 at Open Square in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

This wedding was no fuss and no frills. They wanted to keep it simple and let the history of this beautiful building do all of the work for them. Most of all they wanted to be present for their friends and family, many of whom had met for the first time on their wedding day.

It was such a joy to work with George and Elena. I wish them a lifetime of love, health, and happiness! See more of my favorites below.
