This summer I had the privilege of photographing Hallie and Colby’s wedding at The Red Barn at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.

They’re both performers, which means two things:

  1. They know how to work a crowd.

  2. The crowd also knew this and arrived ready to celebrate.

They walked down the aisle together to a very loud recording of Bruce Springsteen’s “Tunnel of Love”.

It was pandemonium.

Their ceremony was officiated by one of Hallie’s family friends from Vermont under the Red Barn’s iconic oak tree. The tree sits in an open meadow that overlooks the Seven Sisters Range.

Hallie’s bouquet and reception florals were designed by Rooted Flowers but they chose to let this space be itself for this part of the day.

My personal connection with couples doesn’t go as far back as the connections they have with their invited guests, but I often find myself experiencing full on relief and gratitude that the couple standing in front of me is, in fact, standing in front of me and deciding to experience life together.

This was one of those days. Without a a doubt, these two were meant for each other.

After the ceremony, they joined their guests at cocktail hour and watched the sun dip down over the mountains.

It was a perfect day to celebrate outside.

I can’t wrap up this post without sharing a bit of Hallie and Colby’s talent here.

Hallie recently released her first film, Sourdough, where a woman spirals after her pitiful loaf of homemade bread is overshadowed by her dinner guests' exciting news.

And Colby too, co-directed the feature length documentary film, Arriving in 5 Minutes Period, where a DoorDash driver takes a road trip from New Jersey to the Cincinnati Zoo, fulfilling orders as he goes. His decision to accept every available order leads to an exploration of the gig economy, the crisis of work, and the ways people treat each other in an increasingly digital world.

And, fun fact! Hallie also had a role in the Netflix series Search Party.

Ok, enough bragging about my wedding people. I love them and they’re the most talented and sweet people on the planet. This entire day was a joy.
