Michelle spent her childhood summers in York, Maine, so when she and Stephanie got engaged, it was obvious, that’s where the wedding had to happen.
Destiny!
The ViewPoint Hotel, all glass and concrete, was the perfect modern venue tucked into the cliffs with a perfect view of the Nubble Lighthouse.
It rained in the morning, which was inconvenient but also perfect. The kind of short-lived drama that made the day extra memorable.
For ten minutes we were pressed against the house, calculating all of the possible outcomes.
How long will we wait?
Will this get worse?
How long before the ocean swallows us whole?
And finally, the sky cleared, the sun arrived, and the ceremony went on.
Everything was going to be ok.
Social hour was lovely. Guests happily gathered on the green outside of the hotel and traded stories about the rain.
We had all been through something together.
Michelle and Stephanie planned a great menu together with their catering team from Walkers.
The food didn’t disappoint. Oysters, lobster rolls, fresh salads and seasonal vegetables local to southern Maine.
And of course donuts.
Everything was just really good.
